Ango Closing and Shuso Hossen Ceremony
At this special ceremony, the Buddhist Temple of Toledo rings out a season of intense Zen practice. The ceremony is free and open to the public. Beginners are always welcome, please arrive at 10:15 for beginning instruction.
This Ango Closing Ceremony will also include a Shuso Hossen ceremony for BTT novice priest-in-training Shokai who has been serving as Chief Disciple this Ango in preparation. The Shuso Hossen Ceremony is the final step in the process of becoming a senior student in Zen training.
As a participant in the ceremony, you will have the opportunity to hear a short Dharma Talk from Shokai and to encounter the matter together with her one-on-one in a public exchange called Dharma Combat.
The ceremony will be followed with a joyful potluck celebration and an opportunity to express gratitude and congratulations for Shokai.
